He is a Spanish-American writer, translator, editor and playwright. He studied comparative literature, theatre and art history. He graduated from Brown University and was awarded the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship. He worked with Dimitri Gotscheff in Berlin from 2008 until the director's death in 2013. His most recent collaborations as a playwright were Le trouvère (2018) in Parma and Il trovatore (2019) in Bologna. Together with composer Jóhann Jóhannsson, he wrote the screenplay for The Last and the First People (2017), starring Tilda Swinton. He has also collaborated with other artists such as Jim Jarmusch and Brigitte Maria Mayer. He has edited and translated numerous catalogues for museums, including the Städel Museum in Frankfurt (2018), the Kunsthalle in Hamburg and the Stuart Hill on the island of Bute (2017). He edited The Watermill Center: A Laboratory for Performance (2011) about the Robert Wilson Center for the Arts.
