Explores children's musical folklore traditions, promotes their continuity, transferability and integration into contemporary culture. It organises theoretical workshops, conferences, provides methodological support to folklore group leaders, specialists of ethnic culture centres and other institutions on folklore and children's folklore. Produces and compiles collections of children's folklore repertoire, organises audio and video recordings. Organises the Lithuanian children's and schoolchildren's folklore competition 'Tramtatulis', participates in the preparation of the Folklore Day of the Lithuanian Song Festival, the Folk Art Exhibition and other international folklore festivals ('Baltica'), events, expeditions, surveys, competitions. Prepares and submits applications for the Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage in the area under its supervision. Coordinates the activities of expert consultants in the field, organises the work of the Folklore Genre Council and other expert commissions.
