Born in "Kūpīn" of Sinole parish (now Lizum parish) in the family of Kārlis and Anna Sebru. Father Kārlis Sebris (1872—1944)[3] was a scribe's assistant in Galgauska parish, worked in theater productions in Galgauska. Later, clerk in Sinole parish, from 1925 in Tirza parish. Mother - Anna Otilija, born Jerica (1889-1969). Kārlis Sebris spent the first years of his life at his mother's house in "Jēritās" of Lizum parish. Sister - Biruta Sebre (1912-1966), [6] brother Miervaldis Sebris (1925-1980, in Australia). Studied at Lizum elementary school (1922-1925) and Tirza elementary school (1925-1928), then at Cesvaine gymnasium (1928-1932). . In 1933, he entered the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Latvia, where he studied for 1 year. After that, from 1934, he worked both at the VEF factory and at Riga 1st Hospital. In total, he played more than 200 roles in theater and cinema. Kārlis Sebris was a member of the Latvian student corporation Lettgallia. Married twice. Second wife - Nellie Sebre (1915-2007). Illegitimate daughter with actress Irena Pabērza - Ilze Meškova. At the corner of Mūrnieku and Matīsa streets, there is a sculpture "Chimney sweeper and mason" opened in 2007. Its authors are the sculptors Kārlis Īle and Įrts Burvis, but the local chimney sweep Varis Vilcāns and the actor Kārlis Sebris were chosen as the prototypes of the characters.
