In 1939 he graduated from the Kaunas Theatre Acting Studio. 1940-1942 - actor at Šiauliai Drama Theatre. During the Second World War and the first post-war years he acted in the Marijampolė Drama Theatre, and was its artistic director. 1949-1991 - actor, director of Šiauliai Drama Theatre.
He was interested in and collected material on theatre history issues, and donated his personal library to the city of Šiauliai. He published articles on the history of theatre in periodicals.
He created over 80 roles in the theatre, directed about 50 plays.
