Kristina Inčiūraitė uses different media to create photographs, objects, video films, video installations, experimental films, performances and sound projects. Her work shows a rather sensitive approach to the contemporary environment. She focuses on the analysis of identity and its transformation in different social environments. By exploring undefined or hidden and ever-changing identities, she opens up a critical approach to the socio-political problems of the present, such as the manifestations of hegemonic power, the negative treatment of gender differences, or hierarchical social relations. The artist is also close to feminist themes and the position of women in society, but she rarely depicts the female figure in her works, avoiding the tangibility of the character in question or the viewer's voyeuristic gaze. In her audiovisual works, the artist emphasises the voice-over, which moves and gives meaning to her highly static images. Although Inčiūraitė critically analyses the themes that are relevant today, she conveys them in a subtle way, avoiding a clear and unified narrative. Rather, she straddles the fragile boundary between reality and fiction and opens up an intimate experiential space where time is felt to be passing.
