Biography
one of Australia's most popular singers, songwriters and actresses. Born in Melbourne, she has been working and performing in the UK since 1990. Minogue has changed her music and clothing styles frequently throughout her career and has been called the "Princess of Pop". She is Australia's best-known and biggest-selling recording artist.
During her career, Kylie has won Grammy Awards, Brit Awards, ARIA Awards, MTV Video Awards and MTV European Music Awards.
At the age of 11, Kylie was first in front of the cameras in the Australian TV series Skyways. She started her career as a TV actress in the TV series "The Sullivan Family", and was most famous for her role as the lead character Charlene in the TV series "Neighbours". In this series, K. Minogue co-starred with Jason Donovan, who later became her partner not only on stage but also in life. Her first song was 'Locomotion', which stayed at number one in the Australian charts for seven weeks. After a successful debut, she signed with songwriters and producers Stock, Aitken & Waterman, who helped her to release her first album, Kylie, in 1988, and her song "I Should Be So Lucky" topped the charts in Australia and the UK for several months.
Kylie is the first child of her parents Ronald Charles Minogue and Carol Ann. Her younger sister, Dannii Minogue, is also a singer and a judge on the reality show X Factor. The third child is Brandan, who works as a news cameraman for Australian television.
The Minogue children grew up in the Surrey Hills and attended Camberwell High School.
When Dannii began appearing on the children's television show Young Talent Time, Kylie landed her first role in the series Sullivans, followed by Skyways. In 1985, she landed a more serious role in Handerson Kids.
After filming, Minogue returned to high school to finish her education. Before her famous role in Neighbours, she accepted a few more cameo roles in Zoo Family (as Yvonne) and Fame and Missfortune (as the main character Tim's sister Sam).
Kylie's serious career began with a role in the popular Australian series Neighbours, in which she played the role of the rebellious mechanic Charlene Mithcell.
The first series with Kylie aired in April 1986. The latter series aired in 1987 and attracted over 20 million viewers across Great Britain.
In 1987, K. Minogue was awarded her first award: a Golden Logie (Australian Emmy) as the most popular actress in the state of Victoria. This was followed by four more awards in 1988.
