Lionius Treikauskas (January 21, 1958) received his education at the Kaunas J. Gruodis Higher Music School from 1972 to 1976 and at the Music and Theatre Academy from 1976 to 1981, qualifying as a soloist, orchestra artist, and chamber ensemble soloist. His work includes performing as part of the National Opera and Ballet Theatre Orchestra from 1979 to 1988 and the National Philharmonic and National Symphony Orchestra from 1988 to present. He has performed in all European countries, as well as Asia, India, Thailand, and Japan. Since 1993, he has been the artistic director of the Intermezzo String Quintet and has participated in more than 1,200 concerts in Copenhagen, Riga, Moscow, Tallinn, Bern, and all major festivals in Lithuania. From 1999 to present, he has been the artistic director of the Intermezzo Chamber Ensemble and has performed in Moscow, Riga, Tallinn, and major music festivals in Lithuania. From 2001 to 2010, he was the artistic director of the QuinCelli Cello Quintet. He has prepared programs with the most famous Lithuanian performers, including V. Noreika, Vl. Prudnikov, A. Krikščiūnaitė, V. Juozapaitis, G. Skėrytė, P. Vyšniauskas, A. Grigorian, D. Puišys, J. Leitaitė, G. Kaukaite, L. Pautienius, A. Kulikauskas, S. Šiaučiulis, L. Gubaidulina, K. Alčiauskas, and others. Many of his arranged and composed pieces are recorded in the archives of the LRT Music Foundation. He has also recorded for LRT programs such as Muzikos Istorijos, Vizijos ir Tikrovė, Andante, and ...Iš Tolėj.... His music programs and cycles include Muzikinis Miškas, Garsai Paveiksluose kaip Spalvos Muzikoje, Mozart and Salieri, Frank Zappa, and others. He has recorded 16 CDs, including four authored by himself. He has played solo cello in Broadway Theatre productions in the USA, such as Shattle Theatre in Paris, Deutsche Opera in Berlin, Munich, Alte Opera in Frankfurt, Semper Opera in Dresden, and others. Since 2008, he has performed exclusive authorial and solo concerts in Switzerland, France, Italy, Germany, and Norway, and participated in festivals such as Fjord Cadenza, Unplugged, Musica Romantica, Lorach, Lucerne, Genova, and others. In 2009, he created music for the Hang and Strings and released the CD "...Iš Tusėjimo...". In 2012, under the order of the Swiss radio channel ZDF, he created and recorded the CD "Hang zur Classic," and in 2015, on the order of the Swiss Theater, he created the music for the play "Matterhorn Storry". From 2017 to 2019, he created and performed a program for the Swiss festival Unplugged.
