Luk Callens studied at the Royal Conservatory in Ghent, graduating magna cum laude with Paul Beelaerts. Afterwards he took lessons from Heins Holliger, Derek Wickens and Paul Dombrecht, among others. As an orchestral musician he was employed by De Vlaamse Opera and the Koninklijke Muntschouwburg, among others.
Besides numerous solo concerts ( Bach, Mozart with Paul Dombrecht ...) with chamber orchestras, chamber music programs with a.o. Walter Boeykens, he played a lot of tunes for television and feature films. He organizes a.o. concerts and recordings (see Anne Cambier /I Justiniani with Purcell songs) and with his organization he produced the internationally successful production 'The Lighthouse' by Sir Peter Maxwell Davies with performances in Antwerp, Brussels ( The Royal Monnaie Theatre), Zeeland-Nazomer Festival, England, etc.
