Marta Rācene was born in Valka, Latvia. With age of 6 she started her musical path, at first with violin, then changed to viola. In 2011 she begun her proffesional studies at first in Jazeps Medins Music Secondary school , then continued in Jazeps Vitols Academy in Riga studying with Arigo Strals. During her studies in Riga, she also did Erasmus program and had a year abroad in Trossingen, Germany, studying with James Creitz. Wanting to explore more, she stayed in Germany and kept on with studying in Dresden with Vladimir Bukač. She absolved her Bachelor’s Degree in 2019 and now is studying in Master programme.
Marta has also participated in various masterclasses playing for musicians such as Nils Monkemeyer, Jürgen Weber, Paul Cortese, Ulrich Knoerzer, Anton Steck, Winfried Strehle, Pauline Sachse, Andriy Viytovich. She has also played with orchestras such as Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, European Philharmonic of Switzerland, Mannheimer Philharmoniker, Staatsoperette Dresden, Sinfonietta Dresden.
Chamber Music has always also been an important part in her life. Together with piano quartet ‘Tempus’ they won 2nd place in The Sixth Antón García Abril International Chamber Music Competition and had several concerts in Spain
