Martin Völlinger was born in Germany in Fulda in 1977. Initially a self-taught musician (many instruments), he studied church music, singing, conducting and improvisation in Regensburg and Zurich and followed numerous international master classes. He is a winner of the 1st Bayreuth-Regensburg Choir Conducting Competition and a finalist in the International Organ Improvisation Competition of Schlägl Abbey (Upper Austria).
During his studies he worked as a choir director, singing and organ teacher and organist. He now devotes himself to his activity as composer, speaker and guest conductor. He lives with his family in Boswil, Switzerland.
He is the author of pieces of very diverse genres and numerous commissions (children's songs, oratorio, cantata, Magnificat, Salve regina, masses, musical comedy, etc.). From a stylistic point of view, it combines tradition and modernity without fearing contact with pop, jazz and world music. The feasibility of interpreting his works is always his priority. With his Latin Jazz Mass for mixed choir and jazz trio (piano, double bass, drums) and saxophone ad libitum, Martin Völlinger presents an extremely lively and versatile work which is suitable for both the liturgy and the concert.
