Biography
Mateusz Smoczyński – jazz violinist, graduate of the Academy of Music. Fryderyk Chopin in Warsaw in the class of Andrzej Gębski. Since 2017, he has been teaching a jazz violin class at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. Winner of the 2nd International Jazz Violin Competition. Zbigniew Seifert. In the Jazz Top ranking of the Jazz Forum magazine, he was recognized as the jazz violinist of the year 2017. He has performed on the most important stages and jazz festivals almost all over the world. He collaborated with artists such as: Branford Marsalis, Bobby McFerrin, Gil Goldstein, Richie Beirach, Glen Moore, Tomasz Stańko, Zbigniew Namysłowski, Urszula Dudziak, Vladislav "Adzik" Sendecki, Leszek Możdżer, Janusz Skowron, Kazimierz Jonkisz, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Kayah, Natalia Kukulska, Anna Maria Jopek, Monika Borzym, Aga Zaryan, Grzech Piotrowski, Adam Sztaba and Sebastian Karpiel Bułecka.
He recorded several dozen albums. Multiple scholarship holder of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage in the "Young Poland" program. Winner of the "Grand Prix" award in the Hope of the Year 2007 category of the Jazz Melomani plebiscite. He is the author of the violin concerto "Adam's Apple", the premiere of which took place in November 2018 at the NOSPR. Together with Joachim Kühn, Bronisław Suchanek, Janusz Stefański and Bohdan Jarmołowicz, he took part in the premiere of Zbigniew Seifert's jazz concerto for violin, symphony orchestra and rhythm group.
