Mihkel Peäske graduated from the Tallinn Music High School (1989) under Raivo Peäske, the Estonian Academy of Music (1994) under Samuel Saulus and Jaan Õun, and completed his master's studies at the Karlsruhe College of Music (1997) under Renate Greiss-Armin and Matthias Allin. He has furthered his skills in doctoral studies at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and in several master classes. Mihkel Peäske has won 3rd place at the Estonian Wind Instrument Competition (1990), the Audience Award at the “Con brio” Competition Festival (1992), the Special Prize at the Karlsruhe Student Competition (1996), and other awards. He has performed as a soloist with the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, has been a member of the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra and the NYYD Ensemble, being a founding member of the NYYD Ensemble, and is actively involved as a chamber musician. In parallel with his performing activities, Mihkel Peäske works as a teacher at the Estonian Academy of Music and the Tallinn Music High School. In 2016, he received the Pedagogical Prize of the Estonian Cultural Endowment for the Performing Arts.
