In 2007 N. Murauskas joined Kaunas music ensemble "Ainiai", in which he plays various musical instruments (high and tenor birbyne, lazdelis, contrabass cankles, keyboards, horns, dudytės, rags, and others). N. Murauskas is the author of several original arrangements, as well as his debut as a composer, having written works for the birbyne with piano, for birbyne ensembles, and for the orchestra of folk music instruments.
N. Murauskas is a regular concert performer, popularising the instrument. He often appears on stage as a soloist, as well as with various chamber ensembles and orchestras. Concert activities include various music festivals and song festivals. His music has been performed not only in Lithuania, but also in foreign countries. He is regularly involved in organizing various festivals and concerts. 2017, 2019, Member of the Jury of the National Jonas Švedas Competition.
Since 2004 N. Murauskas started working in the State Song and Dance Ensemble "Lietuva". Since 2010 N. Murauskas has been working as a teacher in music schools and Kaunas Juozas Gruodis Conservatory.
In 1997 he graduated from Kaunas Aleksandras Kačanauskas School of Music, specializing in the birbyne instrument. In 1997-2001 he continued his studies at Kaunas Juozas Gruodis Conservatoire in the class of teacher Narutis Baginskas. In 2000 he became a laureate of the Republican Jonas Švedas Folk Instrument Competition (1st prize). In 2001 he began his studies at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in the class of Prof. Antanas Smolskaus. In 2005, he obtained a Bachelor's degree in the art of birbyne performance (lect. Kęstutis Lipeika).
