He started playing the guitar after attending an evening of Paulijus Širvis's work, where he played songs accompanied by acoustic guitar. His first guitar teacher was Darius's brother Algimantas.
Darius formed his first band at school in 1988, whose name changed every month, and whose creative explorations ranged from acoustic music to punk rock. The band's first concert took place at the 7th secondary school in the spring of 1989, with about 200 people in attendance. In 1989 he played in the thrash metal band "Golgota". In 1989-1990 he formed the hard rock band "Diamond" at the Alytus Higher Business School, then a polytechnic, and started to perform more actively. In 1989 took part in the competition "Žemaitijos taurė" in Telšiai. In 1990 he recorded his first recordings with the band. On 29 August 1990, he recorded his first solo album "memento mori" in the independent D.Šalkauskas home recording studio "Narvas". Most of the songs from this album were re-recorded in 1998 and included in the solo album "Vardas".
In 1990 he tried singing in the band "Audi". In 1991 he was in the band "Vynas" and recorded the album "Sudie". In 1992, he called himself "Nojumi" and took part in the competition for young singers in Druskininkai, where he became a laureate. On 16 September 1992, together with Kostas Radlinskas and Roberts Kondratavičius, he formed a band, which he later called Ireland, with which he made 5 albums and won many awards. In December 2000, the band "Airija" disbanded and Nojus continued his solo activities.
In 2001, he formed a band consisting of guitarist Žygimantas Sinkevičius, bassist Augustinas Šeduikis and drummer Asta. In the same year, Nojus and Asta settled in Dublin, Ireland, where Nojus played solo concerts, performed with Irish and Ukrainian musicians Dan Carr, Ilya Babkin and others, and in 2002 recorded the album "Saugok". In 2002, on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the band "Ireland", the band reunited for a short time, played concerts in Lithuania and Ireland, where the last concert of the band "Ireland" took place in Dublin, at the club Eamonn Dorans on 28 October.In 2003, Nojus, together with Asta and the bassist Vidmantas Galeckas (Widma), founded the band in Ireland, wrote new songs, played concerts in Ireland, Germany, Lithuania, and England, and in 2006, they recorded the album "Eternal". In December 2007, Nojus and the band filmed an acoustic concert in Dublin, which was broadcast on LTV2 during Christmas.In January 2008, bassist Vidmantas returned to the band, and the band performed again in Ireland, Lithuania, England and Germany, writing new songs. In November 2008, the acoustic concert DVD "About Myself and Others" was released. In 2009, Noah and his band released the album "Invisible". In 2009, he and his band took part in the Be2gether festival.
