The Ukrainian-born baritone Oleh Lebedyev studied in Kiev and now lives in Germany as a freelance opera singer. In the 2024/25 season, Oleh will sing Dandini in Rossini's La Cenerentola at the Theater Hagen. In 2024, he was on tour in Israel as Conte di Almaviva in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro and sang Gawein in Eggert's Iwein Löwenritter at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein.
In 2023 the young baritone appeared as Dr. Ringelhuth in Kampe's 35. Mai at the Semperoper Dresden, as Il Cavaliere Belfiore in Verdi's Un giorno di regno, as Mr. Bosun in Britten's Billy Budd at the Musiktheater im Revier Gelsenkirchen and as Le Dancaïre in Bizet's Carmen at the Oper im Steinbruch, St. Margarethen. At the Aalto-Theater Essen, he made guest appearances as Il Barone Douphol in Verdi's La traviata and as Silvano in Un Ballo in Maschera.
In 2018 Oleh won 1st Prize at the Halina Slonicka International Singing Competition in Suwałki, Poland. In 2023, he reached the quarterfinals of the Operalia Competition in Cape Town.
He received a scholarship from the Plácido Domingo Center for Perfection at the Reina Sofia Palace of the Arts for two years and was a member of the NRW Opera Studio.
He has attended masterclasses with Plácido Domingo, Carlo Rizzi and Roger Vignoles, among others.
