He debuted as a dancer in 1986 and already founded Granhøj Dans in 1989, when he choreographed his first work Torzo. Ever since, Granhøj Dans, with Palle Granhøj as artistic director and primary choreographer, has created a long series of experimental and investigative works from its base in Århus, where in the period 2001-2007 it had a permanent place in Gran - Theater for dance, as Palle Granhøj founded and was also artistic director for. Obstruction is based on the limitation of the dancer's movement, with which the bodily possibilities to perform the choreography are reduced. With this technique, Palle Granhøj seeks to get to the core of the dance itself through the continuous deconstruction and re-creation of the choreography. In recent years, Palle Granhøj's performances have often taken the form of choreographic dialogues with classical musical works, such as the extended works, RITE of SPRING –EXTENDED, ROSE: Rite of Spring – Extended 2, and BOLERO – EXTENDED, where Palle Granhøj not only investigates the obstruction, but also temporality and iteration as tools to form new spaces of cognition in the classical compositions.Palle Granhøj has received a wide range of awards, including several awards, grants and scholarships, both nationally and internationally
