Raimundas Martinkėnas was born in Kaunas in 1976. 1983-1990 studied choral singing at Kaunas II Children's Music School (now Kaunas Aleksander Kačanauskas Music School), 1991-1995. studied choral conducting at the Juoz Gruodis Conservatory, later he studied choral conducting at the Kaunas Faculty of the Lithuanian Academy of Music (now the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater) (director Prof. Petras Bingelis). 2007-2010 He studied composition at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater (supervisor Prof. Rimantas Janeliauskas).

In 1994, he started playing the organ at Kaunas St. Francis Xavier (Jesuit) Church. 1997 - 2003 led the Kaunas mixed choir "Banga". Since 1999 plays the role of the accompanist Manis in the play "Maria Callas: Mastery Lesson" (dir. G. Padegimas). From 2002 to 2011, he worked as a singing and conducting teacher, concertmaster at the Kaunas boys' choral singing school "Varpelis". 2004-2005 participated in the Kaunas musical theater project "Boulevard of Shattered Hopes", playing the piano part on stage. In 2004, together with K. Didvalis, G. Eidukaičius and M. Javičius, he joined the sacred music quartet "4 voices", which performs sacred instrumental compositions by R. Martinkėnas. In 2005, a collection of works by R. Martinkėnas with phonograms recorded on CD "Prashymas" was released, intended for choirs and soloists of secondary and music schools. In 2011, he created the piece "Aušrėlė" for mixed choir a capp. for the project "... out of respect for MKČ"; "Your eye is the lamp" for mezzo-soprano and percussion was performed at the XVI Contemporary Music Festival.

R. Martinkėnas regularly participates in the judging panels of vocal music competitions and festivals (Cantate Domino, Song of Songs, From the heart to the heart, etc.); leads the boys' singing studio of the Kaunas Children's and Schoolchildren's Leisure Center, accompanies the Kaunas VMLR girls' choir "Lyra", teaches choral conducting, natography and instrumentation at the Kaunas J. Gruodis Conservatory.
