Remigijus Rančys is a young and rapidly progressing jazz composer. He knows how to play the saxophone, keyboard, and flute, as well as compose and arrange music. R. Rančys loves a universal style of music but is particularly interested in jazz and ethnic music genres such as Balkan, Gypsy, Brazilian, and African music. He has been involved in and initiated many projects.
R. Rančys completed a specialization in piano at the Šiauliai Music School and Vilnius Conservatory. Later he studied at Denmark's Den Rytmiske Hojskole, Amsterdam Conservatory, and LMTA where he obtained specializations in saxophone, flute, and pedagogy. He performs in various music genres and debuted with the group "InCulto". He also played with the groups "Pieno lazeriai", "2Good", and "Green Bridge Band", where he not only played but also composed and arranged music for all these groups.
R. Rančys was the art director and assistant conductor of the Šiauliai city big band from 2009 to 2012. In 2010, he formed the acoustic jazz trio "The Schwings" and began actively expressing himself as a leader in classic jazz with Gypsy and Brazilian jazz elements. In 2012, he formed the "Vilnius Jazz Orchestra" with young musicians from the capital, which presented several international projects. R. Rančys also performed with the international project "LIBU" by Pranas Kentra and participated in other musician's projects.
R. Rančys actively performs with his "GypsyDrom" project, African-Lithuanian group "afRo noRdic", and the symphonic jazz orchestra "The New Baltic Orchestra", which he formed in 2014. He has performed in the largest jazz festivals in Lithuania, Latvia, Belarus, Ukraine, and Sweden.
