Remigijus Vilys, conductor and pedagogue, was born in 1965 in Panevėžys. In 1984 he graduated from the Panevėžys J. Shvedas Pedagogical Music School. 1984-1991 studied at the Lithuanian Academy of Music. 1992-2002 Teacher at Panevėžys Conservatoire and later at Panevėžys Primary Music School. Since 1996 lecturer at Panevėžys College. 1992-2010 Artistic director and conductor of Panevėžys Orchestra "Panevėžio garsas". Since 2007 artistic director and conductor of the youth orchestra "Aukštyn". 1999-2011 Vice-Chancellor of the College of Culture of the Lithuanian Municipal Culture Administration. 2000-2011 Member of the expert working group of projects and documents under preparation of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania. Founder of the Lithuanian Brass Band Association. Chairman of the Council of the Lithuanian National Centre of Culture, Wind Instrument Orchestras Genre. Awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order "For Merits to Lithuania" (2009), the mark of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania "Carry Your Light and Believe" (2023).
