The work of the sculptor, object and installation artist R. Milkintas' works are characterised by a combination of a characteristic aesthetic of minimalism and kinetic sculpture. Due to the emphasis on the "significant form" and materiality of the work, the artist's works are often compared to the classics of Lithuanian and foreign modernism. However, while continuing the tradition of modernist sculpture, especially the aesthetics of minimalism, Milkintas also successfully develops the strategies of post-modern art and the language of conceptualism in his work. The demonstrative open construction of the work and the creation of the effect of an imaginary movement in the space make it easy for the viewer to recognise Milkintas' style. In sculptural compositions full of polar tension, the artist juxtaposes the physical qualities of volumes, such as flexibility, solidity, softness or fragility, with individual experience, and often uses materiality to express the meaningful content of the work. Instead of classical materials, the artist prefers plywood, metal and industrial beams, which, in his opinion, best reflect our times. Milkintas also creates sculptures for public spaces.
