Rusnė Mataitytė is a graduate of the National M.K. Čiurlionis School of Arts and the Moscow P. Tchaikovsky Conservatory. She trained with well-known Russian violin pedagogues such as Viktor Radovic, Valery Klimov, and Igor Bezrodnij. First, she won the Jaroslav Kocian Competition and became a laureate of the David Oistrakh and Ludwig Spohr Violin competitions. Later, she became the winner of the J. Brahms Chamber Ensemble Competition with the Cascade Piano Trio. She is well-known for performances at events such as the "Ost-West Musikfest" in Austria, the "Bradva Festival" in Yugoslavia, "Kaskados" in Germany, "Gaidos", "Klaipeda Music Spring", "Permainu Muzika", "Is Arti", and the Pažaislis and Kristupas Summer Festivals. She has recorded works by Eastern European composers such as Osvaldas Balakauskas, S. Harrison, F. Bajora, and R. Šerkšnytė, and her recordings have been well-received by critics. She has performed with symphonic and chamber orchestras in Lithuania, Russia, Germany, Austria, and Yugoslavia. Composers Osvaldas Balakauskas and Algirdas Martinaitis have dedicated violin concertos to her, which she has performed with the Lithuanian National Symphony and St. Christopher Chamber Orchestras. R. Mataitytė has been teaching at the LMTA and the National M.K. Čiurlionis School of Arts since 2004. Her recitals are often accompanied by exhibitions of her paintings.
