The road to the Theatre was not a straight one, as it probably was for many. It started in my teenage years, with expressive reading competitions, agitbrigada.
The stages of my life changed one after another, one activity was replaced by another, but that inner vibration always reminded me of something more interesting, out of the ordinary, something that can move not only the body but also the soul.
And that something appeared. In 2009 Šarūnas Kunickas invited me to play the role of the Doctor in the play "Darkness Beacon" by "Žaliaduonys Theatre".
Although the role is not big in scope, it was not as easy as it seemed at first to grasp its essence and meaning in the whole play. It was nice to feel the stage after so many years and the excitement before going on stage for the first time. I don't know, I think I did... After that there were other productions I had to act in - "Metai" by K. Donelaitis, "Undeniu,Ugnim,Žolynais" by R. Katinaitė-Lumpickienė.
2019. After the establishment of "Utena Chamber Theatre" I played in Keturakis' "America in the Bath" (Antanas) and in the children's play "The Witch Who Wanted to Dance" (Kaminkretys).
The theatre for me is something that is not possible to describe in one word. It's not just one role or another, but it's an interesting organism that cannot be alive only with repertoire, scripts and a stage. In order to be alive, to give good emotions, to give the audience not only laughter, amazement, indignation, admiration, but also to make them think, to listen, and maybe sometimes to become better, more forgiving, the theatre needs a team that is capable of doing that. Utena Chamber Theatre has such a collective, and I am very happy to be part of it.
