Šelda Puķīte is a Latvian curator, publisher, and researcher currently based in Estonia. She holds both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Art History from the Art Academy of Latvia. Her work spans curating exhibitions, managing international art projects, publishing, and conducting research, particularly focusing on early female photographers in Latvia and Estonia. Puķīte has collaborated with notable institutions such as the Latvian National Museum of Art, the Latvian Centre for Contemporary Art, the Riga Photography Biennial, Tartu Art Museum, and Kogo Gallery in Tartu, where she has been working since 2020 as an international project manager and exhibition curator.
In 2021, she co-founded Wunder Kombinat, a cultural institution that publishes the annual WunderKombināts. Latvian Art Yearbook and organizes various art projects. Puķīte's curatorial projects often explore themes of history, identity, and gender. For example, her ongoing Silver Girls project examines early women photographers from the Baltic states and connects their work to contemporary art practices. This project has been exhibited in Estonia (2020) and Lithuania (2025), with plans for further expansion.
Puķīte is also active in promoting Baltic contemporary art internationally through exhibitions like Emotional Landscapes (2023), which featured artists from across Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Her work reflects a deep commitment to fostering dialogue between historical narratives and contemporary cultural discourse.
