is a Finnish artist. He started his career as a painter, then expanded his work and is now also passionate about the visual arts, literature, performing arts, film and theory. He is also the President of the Finnish Artists Association (since 2018) and the President of IAA Europe (the umbrella organisation of the European Visual Artists Associations) (since 2023).
He has been a freelance artist since 1990 and was Professor of Visual Arts at Aalto University, Finland from 2008-2013. Mäki has held 61 solo exhibitions, participated in more than 250 group exhibitions, written ten books, and directed and written numerous theatre plays, films and operas.
Teemu Mäki's work is currently funded by the Finnish Centre for Promotion of the Arts and the KONE Foundation.
