The path of professional music began in 1999, at the J. Gruodis Conservatory in Kaunas. During his studies, he actively played in the student big band, with which he participated in the Lithuanian jazz festivals "Kaunas Jazz" and "Birštonas Jazz". After graduating from the conservatory, he continued his studies in Vilnius - at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater, doc. A. Fedotov's classical saxophone class. Although the field of study was classical music, a strong inclination towards jazz was always there, so T. Čiukauskas formed his first jazz trio - "Džemas". The trio performed in the clubs of the capital, actively participated in jazz evenings. While studying, he also carried out pedagogical activities at the Druskininkai M.K. Čiurlionis Music School and the Lazdijai Art School.
in 2007 After receiving his bachelor's degree, he started organizing international jazz music evenings - "Druskininkai Jazz". This year became an officially created annual space for jazz music in the city of Druskininkai. Musicians not only from Lithuania, but also from Bulgaria, Great Britain, Sweden, Italy, Iceland and Latvia have already participated in the concerts.
in 2008 Tomas Čiukauskas released his first album - "Friday Alive" ("Gyvasis penktadiens"), it features original works of the saxophonist.
in 2009 together with the ethnoculturalist Lina Klimavičiūte formed the ethno-folk jazz project "Leliumai". The program of the project consisted of contemporary improvised Dzuk folk songs. In the same year, the saxophonist performed together with the legendary jazz musician Vladimir Tarasov in the open air of the "Druskininkai Poetic Autumn".
in 2010 In the summer, Tomas Čiukauskas and multi-instrumentalist Irakli Koiava (Georgia) presented a musical jazz project - Jazz Duet "IT". The music performed fascinates with its authentic sound and Lithuanian and Georgian ethno-folk motifs. The duo organized a successful tour of Lithuania.
Since 2011 actively performs in the Druskininkai jazz ensemble. In February 2013, the Druskininkai Jazz Ensemble released the album "M. K. Čiurlionis DIFFERENT". In the album, Čiurlionis preludes and musical quotes are originally arranged in jazz style.
Currently, the saxophonist performs intensively with the "Indraya Acoustic" project. It is a musical project with an elegant sound, special for its bright sound, colorful improvisations and professional performance.
