In 1979 he graduated from Daugai secondary school and entered the then LSSR State Conservatoire and Television Directing specialisation. After graduation he served in the army. In 1986, he started working in the Literature and Art Department of LTV. His diploma work, the TV documentaries "Water and So Much" and "Seku, Seku Tale", was well received. He directed literary readings, the programmes "From the Exhibition Hall", "In the World of Cinema and TV", "The Year and the People", and was the second director of the TV play "The Ruler".
He made the feature films "Vilnius Legends", "The Midnight Carriages", "The Poor Man's Bible" and others. He directed the journalistic programmes "Towards Yourself", "Nakvisha", "People's Creativity", and a series of programmes on art. He also tried his hand at acting - Tadas Urniežius from the series Giminės.
