In 1998, he joined the Faculty of History of Vilnius University, where he graduated with a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in history, and in 2009 he defended his PhD thesis on the topic of the "Models of the behaviour of the Lithuanian cultural elite in the Soviet era" (research supervisor Dr. Algirdas Jakubčionis). Since 2007 he has been teaching as an assistant professor at the Department of New History. He participated in the research of informal networking in the Soviet era, co-authored the monograph "Invisible Soviet Society", co-authored the collection of memoirs "Something So Very Real. Co-author of "Histories of an Unruly Soviet Society". He was the leader of the project "Changes in Sexual Norms and Behaviour in the Modernising Lithuanian Society".
