Veronika Vitaitė is the head of the Piano Department and a professor at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (LMTA), a National M.K. Čiurlionis School of Arts expert. She graduated from the Lithuanian State Conservatory (prof. Olga Steinberg's class), completed an internship at the Moscow Music Pedagogical Institute (A. and M. Gotlibs’ class), and also practiced at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and other higher music schools.
From 1963 to 1974, she was a teacher and head of the Piano Department at the Higher Music School of Šiauliai, as well as a lecturer at the Šiauliai Pedagogical Institute. She has been teaching at the Lithuanian Academy of Music since 1974 and is a member of the Senate, Study Commission, Coordinating Committee, Vice President of the Lithuanian EPTA, Chairperson of the LMD "XXI Century Music and Education" Board, President of the Lithuanian F. Chopin Society, and a member of the London Pianists Corporation Committee.
In 1964, together with A. Povilaičius, she created the second permanent piano duo to perform concerts in Lithuania, which performed more than 300 times in Lithuania, Moscow, Latvia, and Estonia over 16 years. She regularly performs in piano duets with Prof. R. Vaitkevičiūtė (duet "Viva") and Doc. A. Žvirblytė. She has organized concert cycles with violinists A. Stulgys, R. Katilius, singers R. Maciūtė, R. Tumalevičiūtė, I. Laurušienė (Argustienė), as well as with other well-known performers. She performed many times at the "Music Autumn" festivals and with Lithuanian orchestras conducted by S. Sondeckis, P. Berman, J. Domarkas, M. Piečaitis, M. Dvarionaitė, A. Klenickis, and J. Fledžinskas.
Her records were released, and she was recorded more than 120 times on Lithuanian radio and television. She also toured in the Baltic States, Minsk, Moscow, various cities in Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Japan, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, and Cyprus, and participated in many international festivals in Lithuania and abroad.
Veronika Vitaitė always promotes Lithuanian music and is the first performer of many composer’s works. She has trained many students who have won more than 50 international competitions in Lithuania, Latvia, France, the Netherlands, Denmark, Ukraine, England, the USA, Canada, Germany, and Sweden. Her students include E. Janulevičiūtė, G. Gedvilaitė, A. Anusauskas, D. Mažintas, I. Petrauskaitė, E. Minkštimas, and others who successfully perform in Lithuania and abroad and have recorded more than one CD.
Veronika Vitaitė is also a member of the organizational committees and evaluation committees of international piano competitions M.K. Čiurlionis, S. Vainiūnas, B. Dvarionas, and "Music Without Borders". She is also the chair or a member of evaluation committees for competitions in the USA, Italy, Greece, Poland, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, France, and Georgia, often teaches masterclasses, and presents papers at scientific conferences in Lithuania and abroad. She is the author of more than 30 articles, reviews, and editor of publications.
Veronika Vitaitė is a deserving artist of Lithuania, awarded the Order of Vytautas the Great in 2003. She is known as an artist radiating unique energy that helps her achieve excellent artistic and pedagogical results. She is valued and admired for the excellent results in pedagogy, ensemble performances, and methodological and organizational activities by Professor K. Grybauskas, S. Sondeckis, and L. Natočenny.
