Head of the Dance Department of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, Professor, Doctor of Humanities, creator of Lithuanian folk dances. In 1983 he graduated from the then Lithuanian State Conservatoire (now the Lithuanian Academy of Performing Arts), and gained the qualification of ballet master-teacher. In 2010 he graduated from Vytautas Magnus University and was awarded a doctorate in humanities (ethnology). Since 1990 he has been working at the Dance Department, teaching Lithuanian folk dance, the history and methodology of the Baltic Song Festivals, dance composition. He has created more than 120 Lithuanian folk dances, which are performed by Lithuanian and international Lithuanian dance groups. He has written and published over 20 scientific articles on Lithuanian folk choreography, and has participated in and presented at numerous scientific conferences. He has published 13 original dance publications, artistic director and chief ballet master of 6 Baltic student festivals "Gaudeamus", artistic director and chief ballet master of Lithuanian Song Festival Dance Days.
