I'm Vilija Markevičienė, a graduate in graphic design. I slowly tamed painting, starting with small sub-frame formats, and then moving on to larger sizes, which adorn homes in Lithuanian cities and beyond.
I would describe my paintings as fictional landscapes, transferred onto canvas, which are connected to mystical nature, cities and human silhouettes. The paintings are done on canvas with acrylic paint.
My surroundings and dreams are my biggest sources of inspiration. I don't depict reality as we see it. I am fascinated by abstract transformation and lively brushstrokes. I let the colours live freely on the canvas and tell their own story. I don't put walls around my painting style because I have always valued freedom of expression and mind. Painting for me is like escaping into another space. And who said there is no other reality?
I would advise you to choose the paintings that are closest to your heart, without having to match the interior. The interior will change over time, as will the other decorations, but the painting will remain.
