Pianist Vilma Zbinden, who has lived in Glarus since summer 2009 and teaches at the Glarus Music School, was a lecturer at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, a guest lecturer for piano ensemble playing at the State University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart and at the Conservatorio di Musica "G. Verdi" in Milan, a piano teacher at the Algirdas Music School in Vilnius and secretary of the Lithuanian Association of Piano Teachers (EPTA of Lithuania). In 1999 she graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Music (class for piano and piano ensemble with Kęstutis Grybauskas) with a master's degree in music. Vilma Zbinden is a prizewinner at international competitions for piano ensembles in Lithuania, Belgium and Great Britain. The pianist has performed with the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, the State Symphony Orchestra and the M. K. Čiurlionis String Quartet. Since 1995 she has played in Professor Kęstutis Grybauskas's pianist quartet and has performed with this ensemble in London, Budapest, Riga, Austria, Belgium, Italy, Norway and Switzerland. In 1997 Vilma Zbinden founded the trio "Grazioso" (soprano, flute and piano). With this ensemble she performs in Lithuania, takes part in international festivals and has held concerts in Denmark, Germany and Poland. Recordings with Vilma Zbinden are regularly broadcast on Lithuanian radio and television, on the BBC and on Norwegian and Hungarian radio stations. She also has CDs of chamber music.
