Playwright and writer Virginija Rimkaitė graduated from Klaipėda University with a Bachelor's degree in Lithuanian Philology and Directing and a Master's degree in Theatre Studies. In 2016, she became the winner of the Lithuanian National Drama Theatre's playwriting competition "Versmė", having written her first play "Boiling Point 5425" during a workshop. In 2017, this play was staged by Artūras Areima, and in 2019 it was staged at the Lithuanian National Drama Theatre (directed by Giedrė Kriaučionytė-Vosylienė). Rimkaitė's play "Patina" was awarded third place in the international competition "Speaking of Borders" (Germany), and in 2021 the play was also presented at the Lithuanian National Drama Theatre during the Contemporary Drama Festival "Versmė" (readings directed by Paulius Ignatavičius).
In 2017, he won the First Book competition, and in the same year V. Rimkaitė's short story "21 a" was published. In 2018, the book won the Kazimieras Barėnas Literary Prize.
