In 1978 he graduated from the choreography class of the Klaipėda faculties of the Lithuanian Conservatoire, gaining the qualification of ballet master.
While still studying at secondary school, he became interested in Lithuanian folk dance, and after having perfected his skills in the studio of the ensemble, he was a dancer of the ensemble "Lietuva" from 1954 to 1975, and was the chief ballet master from 1981 to 2010. Ballet master of the ensemble "Rūta" from 1961-1963, director from 1975-1981. Artistic director and chief ballet master of the ensemble "Vingis" 1972-1974, artistic director and chief ballet master of the ensemble "Rasa" 1975-1981. In 1975-1976 he taught at the Vilnius School of Culture, in 1978-1981 he was the head of the Department of Aesthetic Education at the Vilnius Pedagogical Institute.
Created dances, circles ("Slinkis" 1978, "Paruginis" 1980, "Gailinga" 1981, "Harvest Song" in 1982), dance programmes ("Rye Song" in 1985, all choreographed, and pioneer of the historical national costume in the ensemble "Lietuva", "Ein saulelė o dangų" in 1991, author of the script and choreography of the second part of the dance). In 1978 he was awarded the honorary title of Lithuanian Meritorious Artist for his services to folk art and the development of choreography, and in 1987 he was awarded the honorary title of Meritorious Artistic Worker. Author, artistic director, ballet master, scriptwriter of the Lithuanian Song Festivals (1975, 1980, 1985, 1990, 1998, 2003, 2007) and the folklore festival "Baltica" (1987). In 1985, he was awarded the Choreography Prize of the 1st degree for the choreographic solution of the evening of ensembles. 2003 - Chief Director and Chief Ballet Master of the Evening of the Ensembles in Kalnų Park, and author of the prologue "Oi, on the mountain a white crown" dedicated to the 750th anniversary of the coronation of King Mindaugas. In 2012 and 2016 he was the author, director and chief ballet master of the scripts of the Republican schoolchildren's ensemble evenings in Kalnų Park - "It's beautiful, it raised me beautifully" and "What a beautiful face you have in your homeland".In 2020 he was awarded with the "Golden Bird" for his services to national culture.
