Vytenis Burokas is an artist and curator currently based in Vilnius, Lithuania. He combines various disciplines and genres, searching for traces of fragmented cultural influences in today's world. The findings of this research have to be passed through the filter of personal experience and observation. Burok's ongoing research and findings are presented in the form of performance, publication, installation, sculpture and drawings. In his practice, he explores metabolism and the fermentation of knowledge, focusing on the relationship between micro-organisms and humans. Often in his projects, Burok creates alter ego characters for performances, installations and drawings based on his own narratives. In 2013-2014, Burok participated in the Rupert Alternative Education Programme. Burok holds a BA, MA in Contemporary Sculpture from the Department of Contemporary Sculpture at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, where he currently holds the position of Head of the Department of Sculpture.
