"Žemyna Trinkūnaitė's acquaintance with Lithuanian folk music began at the home of her parents, who are well-known Lithuanian folklore enthusiasts. Later, she learned to play the cancan at the Balys Dvarionas Music School. She started attending folklore ensembles (VISI, Folklore Ensemble of the Academy of Arts, Kūlgrīda) where she sang, played the cankles, and began to compose her own compositions.
The CD "Nine-Stringed Cannons - 17 Compositions", released in 2013, was among the top 11 of the most unexpected albums of Lithuanian music. Žemyna has performed for audiences in Poland, Czech Republic, America, Sweden and Russia. Her compositions are original but based on Lithuanian harmonies, consonances and intonations. Trinkūnaitė does not write her compositions down in sheet music, she performs them from memory, so each time they sound a little different."
