Sigitas Geda, one of the most prominent Lithuanian poets, turns eighty years old this year. On this occasion, a special musical-poetry project is being prepared, created by jazz musicians Vladimir Tarasovas, Liudas Mockūnas, Gedminas Steponavičius and poets Alvydas Šlepikas and Kerry Shawn Keys, a Lithuanian poet of American origin, who has perfectly translated S. Geda's poetry into English.

Vladimir Tarasov, the organizer of the project, speaks about S. Geda like this: "Sigitas Geda is a wonderful poet, a wonderful person. With a subtle and rather biting sense of humor. We communicated with him a lot and always warmly. Together, we organized a number of joint performances in Vilnius, Druskininkai, and the Frankfurt Book Fair. The timbre of his voice, like a musical instrument, was woven into our musical canvas. Sigitas Geda is a whole poetic era in the history of Lithuania".

Good jazz is always poetic, and good poetry has always been jazz. It is enough to remember the lines of Langston Hughes, Jack Kerouac and, of course, Sigit Geda.
