It is said that Frank Zappa's facial features resemble M. K. Čiurlionis... F. Zappa's spirit has indeed found a patron in Lithuania - there is a monument dedicated to him in Vilnius, Naujamiestis. However, we decided to look at the creator in a non-monumental way - to combine the compositions of Frank Zappa and the authors who inspired him in the concert program. Iconoclastic F. Zappa is probably most associated with alternative rock music in the 1980s. He was a talented multi-instrumentalist, interested in avant-garde art practices, his work was greatly influenced by such contemporary music creators as E. Varèse, P. Boulez or A. Schoenberg. It is interesting that F. Zappa's catalog also includes pieces for wind instruments, so the chamber ensemble of the Lithuanian Symphony Wind Orchestra has prepared a thematic program at the music club "Kablys+kultura", which will be presented by one of the most prominent interpreters of contemporary music in Lithuania - LSPO chief conductor Karolis Variakojis.
