The aspiration to remain a modern, contemporary and energetic collective is reflected in the interdisciplinary direction of the concert programs - cooperation with various artists, juxtaposing stage genres: theater, modern dance, etc. In recent years, together with actress and director Biruta Mar, even two theatrical plays for the whole family have been successfully presented - "Trumpet City" and "Trumpet Flight". Constantly looking for new forms, the orchestra closely cooperates with Lithuanian and foreign composers, commissions new works, implements music publishing, educational projects, conductors' seminars, master courses.
From 2021 the position of artistic director is held by Leif Karlsson, head of the orchestra. conductor - Karolis Variakojis. The most characteristic feature of the orchestra is the cultivation of the repertoire of a professional symphonic brass band, the performance of virtuoso works. Orchestra in 1957 founded by the composer and conductor Vito Žiliaus as the music collective of the Vilnius Central Park of Culture and Recreation. 1964 was a turning point for the orchestra, when Romas Balčiūnas, who for more than four decades was called the soul of "Trimit" (Lithuanian Symphony Wind Orchestra from September 7, 2022), took the helm of the orchestra. 2009-2020 the orchestra was conducted by Ugnius Vaiginis.
From 2018 the orchestra is led by prof. Dr. Antanas Kučinskas.
