There comes a time when you have to choose: whether to continue to live in "harmony" with yourself and not interfere anywhere, or to spit on your well-being and dare to take responsibility for another, sacrificing your time, sleep, health...
The hero of the play "Mama Cat" is a fat and lazy cat Zorba, who chooses the second option, willingly or not, and only after starting to share his life with someone else discovers wonderful character traits in himself, which he did not even realize he had...
Trust me, you don't need to open up a child's fantasy - it's much more open than ours. Therefore, the scenery of a play for children must perform the same function as in a play for adults - to help tell the story. If necessary, it can be three cubes, if necessary - you can build the most real palaces of gold. In this case, the artist Marijus Jacovskis sculpts a simple brick wall, creating an "ordinary" yard in a big city, where a few ordinary cats live, doing something quite extraordinary - teaching a seagull to fly...
Today, I want a child to watch a play in the theater, follow the story, understand the actions of the characters, and not just wait for songs and dances. The songs are not bad, but now such a cliché of performances for children has formed - from song to song, superficial characters, lots of play, colors and, God forbid, no sadness! It is not surprising that a child who has watched this is looking for the same thing in the theater when he grows up. For him, the theater is just entertainment, a kind of "tabloid reading room" designed to relieve tension. That's all. You want to challenge yourself - first of all - and create a performance for children without those "mandatory" attributes. We will see what will come of it, but if we don't try to change it now, the theater may lose another generation of viewers.
Of course, after removing those unnecessary "glitters" from the plot, much more responsibility falls on the shoulders of the actors, much more depends on their skill, ability to create "full-blooded" characters... even if they have tails. The small theater employs a mature, very interesting and colorful generation in their thirties, whose ability to act a little "differently" fascinates children no less than me. So why not "experiment" together?
