In the center of the performance "Determining Heda" is a person who knows his "expiration date", who is faced with the terrible question "what would I do if I knew when I would die". This is a tragicomedy about a person trying to resist his "author", higher power, gods, fate, but moving inexorably and purposefully towards destruction.
American playwright and screenwriter Jon Klein's play is an interpretation of Henrik Ibsen's famous play Hedda Gabler. Heda asks if it is possible to resist the fate assigned to her, to go beyond the social status, gender and other limits imposed by someone else. As director Uršulė Bartoševičiūtė says, "We can globalize Heda's opposition to Ibsen's play and consider it an effort of human will to oppose power systems, workplace hierarchies, social status, etc."
This is the second work in the work of Uršulė Bartoševičiūtė, who completed her master's degree in directing this year, playing with the classic dramatists of the 19th century. in 2019 She presented the play "Snow. A woman. Duel", based on Viliams Klimacek's play "Chekhov - Boxer". The director plays with cultural archetypes with incendiary stage energy and weaves them suggestively into images of the modern world, expressing a critical approach to reality - a dump of information, texts, contexts and quotations.
The project is partially financed by the Lithuanian Council of Culture.
