"Visions of the Seaside" - a magical evening of the piano duo Rūta Rikterė and Zbigniew Ibelhaupt, where past and present, nature and human creativity meet.
The 13th M.K. Čiurlionis Music Festival invites you to an unforgettable evening of piano music "Visions of the Seaside", which will bring together the creative spirit of M. K. Čiurlionis, musical visions inspired by nature, and the compositions of the masters of the Romantic Era. This exceptional concert will be performed by the renowned piano duo Rūta Rikterė and Zbignevas Ibelhauptas, whose unique interpretations will reveal new shades of classical works.
The axis of the programme is the musical worldview of Čiurlionis, which permeates the entire concert and is revealed in his canon in A flat major and in the expromte in F sharp minor (arr. by Kęstutis Grybauskas).
The concert will open with Carl Reinecke, whose "Festive Overture" combines the spirit of Čiurlionis' teacher with an academically rigorous, yet subtle and emotive musical style. Next will be Edvard Grieg's Norwegian Dances, which reflects Čiurlionis' interest in elements of folk music - both composers masterfully combined folk music motifs with Romantic harmony in their works. Robert Schumann's extrompts from Oriental Pictures will draw the audience into a colourful poetic world, while Franz Liszt's Preludes will bring the evening to a majestic close with a wave of emotions that blends the harmony of nature and human life. .
The duo of pianists Zbigniew Ibelhaupt and Rūta Riktere needs no introduction to the Lithuanian public. They have been prominent on our musical panorama for many years. Since 1989, the duo has been offering interesting and unexpected programmes, with a special focus on new music. Ibelhauptas and Rikterė have given world premieres of many works for two pianos by Lithuanian composers, and the most interesting opuses by foreign composers are also being performed for the first time in Lithuania thanks to this duo.
