The Lithuanian Army Orchestra was founded in 1991. on September 4, Major Justinas Jonušas (1938–2013) was the first conductor of the orchestra.
The task of the Lithuanian Army Orchestra is to participate in official events in Lithuania and beyond, in order to represent the Lithuanian state and the army.

The orchestra consists of 60 professional musicians. They are led by the orchestra's bandmaster Major Egidijus Ališauskas, assisted by conductor Captain Dainius Pavilionis.
The Lithuanian Army Orchestra participates in the reception ceremonies of the highest level of state guests, state events, official ceremonies and celebrations of the Lithuanian Army, as well as prepares and performs parade programs.
The pieces performed by the orchestra can also be heard during solo concerts for the Lithuanian public, the collective's recordings are played on Lithuanian radio and television, seven CDs of the orchestra have been released.
Since its foundation, the orchestra has cooperated with military orchestras and their conductors from the European Union and NATO countries. The Lithuanian Army Orchestra successfully participated in military music festivals and performed in Germany, Belgium, Poland, the Netherlands, Denmark, France, Estonia, Sweden, and the Czech Republic.
The musicians of the Lithuanian Army Orchestra have played with the soloists Povilas Stravinskas (piano), Sergis Kirsenkas (tuba), Daumantas Slipkums (piano), accompanied singers Virgilii Noreika, Asmik Grigorian, Veronika Povilionienei, Carsie Sawyer and other performers and ensembles.
In its library, the Lithuanian Army Orchestra has over a thousand works by Lithuanian and foreign composers, which are stored on cassettes and CDs. There are also quite a few recordings of the orchestra in the Lithuanian radio and television libraries. The orchestra maintains creative relations with the military orchestras of the USA, Belgium, Hungary, Latvia, Holland, and Germany.
