III INTERNATIONAL JOSEPH ACHRON MUSIC FESTIVAL
Chamber music concert "The Grand Duchy of Lithuania"
Two distinguished musicians - Rokas Zubovas (piano) and Gleb Pyšniak (cello) present a new programme - "The Grand Duchy of Lithuania", featuring music by Joseph Achron, Mieczyslaw Weinberg, Jurgis Juozapaitis and others.
The music of these composers often intertwines national traditions and modernist elements of the classics. J. Achron wove Jewish elements into his compositions, M. Weinberg combined Polish and Jewish ones, and J. Juozapaitis infused Lithuanian traditional music motifs.
Gleb Pyšniak made his debut as a soloist at the age of 14 with the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra (conducted by Prof. Saulius Sondeckis) at the Lithuanian National filharmonic. Today, the pupil of the legendary cellist Natalia Gutman performs in the world's most famous venues, such as Vienna's Musikverein, Amsterdam's Concertgebouw, and others.
