"I was born in 1959," says the festival's godfather Gotesman, "and 1959 is the most important year for jazz in the world."
Then John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Don Cherry created and introduced to the world a new musical communication and concept. New rhythms, new accents emerged. Ornette Coleman introduced the idea of a free form of improvisation.
The BORN IN 1959 concert will introduce the language of music in 2024, which is the legacy and wealth of 1959, and will tell the story of the most important composers and performers of 1959, who are deservedly known as the pioneers of jazz music, and will remind us of their tremendous legacy and the study of their work, which is still going on today.
