The pair were particularly popular in the 1960s and 1970s, when no major art exhibition could be imagined without their work. Many Lithuanian and foreign collectors wanted to acquire their works. Galina and Silvestras Džiaukštų's work includes everything - self-portraits, nudes, portraits of peasants, fishermen at work, their catch and their recreation, landscapes, and a whole series of horses. It is safe to say that in Lithuanian art, these are outstanding masters of figural compositions. The colour range of the artists' works is fascinating, especially when seemingly alien combinations of colours are unexpectedly intertwined, for example, green, blue and red next to each other. The works on the theme of man and nature are very pleasing - lyrical, a little sentimental, with free, broad brushstrokes, especially in revealing the majestic element of water. This exhibition in Šiauliai is a retrospective of the work of artists who have always been side by side. The last time their works were exhibited in our city was in 1979.
