Contemporary dance performance, in the dunes.
Daphnis Kokkinos (Germany), an emerging dancer from the Pina Bausch company, together with the Sheikh Dance Theatre, presents a dedication to the Great Teacher of Dance. In 2020, the 80th anniversary of the birth of Pina Bausch, the legendary choreographer who gave us the aesthetic of dance theatre, was celebrated worldwide. To contribute to the commemoration of this date and to bring together professionals and the community of Neringa, Sheikh Dance Theatre invited Pina Bausch's dancer and choreographer
Daphnis Kokkinos to create a performance on the Parnidis Dune. Daphnis is in the tradition of Bausch's movement and aesthetics, and has created performances based on her aesthetics all over the world.
"I have to admit - I was overwhelmed by the beauty of the place. The nature in the Curonian Spit is magnificent. When I visited, the waves were crashing in the sea and the wind was blowing strong - take it and dance - you don't even need music. On the dunes, which are just around the corner, the mood is different, mystical. I really didn't expect to be so affected."

The performance was created in Nida, using the natural scenery of the Great Dune, involving not only 8 professional dancers, but also the Nida dance collective Kalnapušė and the community of Neringa in the creative process.
