The Pažaislis Music Festival is a great place to get to know the young generation of artists who are just opening their doors to the music Olympus. This year, in the "New Names" program, festival listeners will be able to listen to mezzo-soprano Gabrielė Kupšytė, baritone Modesto Sedlevičius, who is returning to the Kaunas stage, and Justas Čeponis, one of the brightest pianists of the young generation who works with singers.
Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Hope of the Year Award for 2022 The mezzo-soprano G. Kupšytė, who won the role of Romeo in the opera "Monteciai ir Capulečiai", says: "Since I was a child, I was sure that I would follow the path of music." Currently, the soloist is participating in the Jette Parker artist program at London's Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
The performer will perform on the festival stage with baritone M. Sedlevičius, who, unlike Gabriele, chose a career in music only after studying chemistry at Vilnius University. Lithuanian music lovers and the media focused on M. Sedlevičius when he shone at the international Virgilijas Noreikas singer competition. In it, the baritone not only won the second prize, but also became a favorite of LNOBT. The singer, who went to Germany to study vocal courses, attended the academy of the famous Milan "La Scala" theater, and is currently developing his career in the most famous opera houses of Western Europe. About the specifics of work in the opera genre, the soloist says: "Singing characters can convey much more emotions and information in a relatively short time. And most importantly: singing is simply beautiful."
J. Čeponis - LNOBT pianist-concertmaster, regularly performing as a soloist and member of various ensembles. The performer collaborated with the director Dalia Ibelhauptaite in the Vilnius City Opera productions and together with the Vilnius City Opera and the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra represented Lithuania at the world exhibition "EXPO 2020" in Dubai. J. Čeponis was awarded a diploma of appreciation as one of the best pianist-concertmasters of the 3rd international V. Noreika singer competition. Singer Giedrė Kaukaitė wrote about his performances in this competition: "The pianist is able to support, encourage, love and provoke the singer in the most sensitive way. Such a pianist is a treasure for our theater singers."
