An award-winning play about the dunes of Neringa will be staged in an equally mystical place in Šiauliai - at the Salduvė Mound. It is a poetic story about the villages of Neringa and the interesting personalities who have lived or briefly stayed here, whose stories, like the villages of Neringa, have already been buried by the sand that rustles in the wind. The performance will convey the fate of the people who lived here against the backdrop of a landscape that has changed over the centuries in the laconic languages of movement, music and voice. The plot of the performance is made up of mysterious fragments - vanished villages, the songs of Ludwig Reza, the Prussia-St Petersburg postal route, the gesture of Queen Louise, Thomas Mann's domestic life and existence, the footsteps of Simone de Beauvoir and Jean-Paul Sartre, and the strokes of the artists' colony of Nida. The dance and history performance "Deserted" is usually staged on the Parnidis dune, which overlooks the settlement of Nida and the pages of its deserted history. The dancers' bodies and nature will echo the historical-poetic-musical narrative heard through headphones, revealing the magical realism of the Curonian Spit.
The creative team of the performance has been nominated for the Golden Cross of the Stage in 2019.
