In 1990, a funk band was formed in Šiauliai, playing Lithuanian funk music.
Jonas Verbušaitis, a lecturer at Šiauliai University, decided to form a brass band together with his colleagues, lecturers and students.
The band became popular: they played not only at student festivals, clubs, but also at the republican beer festival "Three Days Three Nights". The band played traditional Dixieland, jazz, jazz-rock music presented on 8-9 wind instruments and groove genre.
In 1993, the first CD "Smegenų masažas" was recorded in Šiauliai and Vilnius, released by "Bomba Rec.". The album's songs were played in Lithuanian radio stations, parties, clubs and student festivals.
1990-1993 Gin'gas line-up: vocalists Jaunius Paulauskas, Evaldas Daujotas and the British Ruth Tipple, who sang two songs.
1993 In late autumn 1994, after several musicians left the band, vocalist Remigijus Ruokis joined Gin'gas.
The band took part in the Dutch marinista festival "SAIL '95" in Amsterdam. The musicians not only played, but also played at various parties together with the Scottish band. At the time, the festival featured an 8-piece tubular funk band. In October 1995, a group of like-minded people from the Gin'gas clan founded a music club, which immediately got down to business and organised the international alternative music festival RUMŠK, and five years later started organising the Šiauliai Jazz Festival. In the beginning of 1996, the band was nominated for the Discovery of the Year awards Metai 95' (Rivjera, Palanga) and Bravo 95' (Lapės, Kaunas), and was invited to the Baltic Music Network festival in Szczecin (Poland). After the change of drummer and keyboardist, Kęstutis Gascevičius and Gintaras Dzidolikas joined the band.
The band initiated the event "Kilkit, balti lėktuvai", where they played in the same line-up as all other Šiauliai bands. The band was invited to the 10th anniversary "Rock summer '97" festival in Tallinn, Estonia. It was a real soul-funk programme with all the attractions and the band played with Shakatak, funkers BE from Germany and Estonian Super Slinky, who were invited by Gingas to the Rock March '97 already in Lithuania, which took place in Vilnius at the end of August.
A. Silkinis (Tango records) offered to record the album in the studio of "Tango" and the band started recording in March 1998 and finished in May. In the summer it was decided to record a bonus track for the Gin'gas CD "Tirpsta" It was recorded with Say2ux (Plasma, IceMoon) on a drum'n'base version of the Vynelis remix.
The album was released on 26 November, presented to the public and the cream of the showbiz world, where it was well-received. The album was presented in Lithuanian cities for almost a year.In 1999 Gin'Gas was noticed by show organisers, who saw a band that could communicate and excite the audience, and with their experimental performances they made the organisers of jazz festivals take a serious look at the band, so since 1999 Gin'Gas has been a participant of Lithuanian jazz festivals: 1999 - Šiauliai, 2000 - Kaunas Jazz festival, Klaipėda Castle Jazz festival, 2001 - was the most interesting band in the Baltic presentation in Stockholm in the concert series at Nalen club, on the festival square with Brainstorm, at the Streenberg theatre, and several times participated in Šiauliai Jazz festival. In 2002, the brass section started to return to the group after having played in Spain. Now the band is composed of 9-10 people who play and groove and until 2005 they play in clubs, events, music awards, jazz and rock festivals and parties. In the summer of 2005 the writing of the new album starts, with a special soul, hip-hop, funk mission and of course a funky groove, without which this music is nothing. In January 2006, the band plays live on Lithuanian TV, where they present the outline of the new album, and a month later they are nominated in the Alternative Music Awards in the funk category. After that, two years of active concert period (especially in the only live music clubs "Tamsta", "Brodway PUB", "Teatro bufetas") and again a 2-year vacation...
