Lucas and Arthur Jussen received their first piano lessons in their native Hilversum. In 2005 the brothers studied in Portugal and Brazil at the invitation of Maria João Pires. Lucas completed his studies with Menahem Pressler in the USA and with Dmitri Bashkirov in Madrid, while Arthur graduated from the Amsterdam Conservatory, having studied with Jan Wijn.
They have recorded exclusively with Deutsche Grammophon since 2010 and their debut CD of works by Beethoven was awarded the Edison Classic Audience Award. Other recordings include a disc of Schubert, Jeux, featuring French piano music, Mozart piano concertos with the Academy of St Martin in the Fields and Neville Marriner and a highly acclaimed performance of the Poulenc Double Concerto with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and Stéphane Denève.
